The Write Block Wednesday: I am thankful for…

Happy Day Before Thanksgiving! As you all remember, I re-introduced The Write Block series at the beginning of this month for my faithful NaNoWriMo or NaBloPoMo friends. I commend those who have smashed the challenge this month. I often get frustrated when I’m forced to write something, and I easily become distracted with whatever else will stimulate my mind. That’s the main reason why I created The Write Block series in the first place to develop a space for me to write without limits and share my work with likeminded individuals.

Just in case you need the rules, here you go:

Set your ideal writing mood
Using the theme, write in your journal or digital document uninterrupted for 15 minutes (Make sure you time yourself)
At the end of the 15 minutes, stop typing or put your pencil down
Read and/or share what you wrote (Remember: Sharing is optional)
Ask yourself – can you use this for a future or current project?
If so, keep it. If not, still keep it. You never know what source of inspiration will come from it.

Here’s The Write Block: Writing Prompt for this week:

What are you thankful for?

The Write Block Wednesday: Writing Prompt

1Welcome back!

If you’ve checked out Being Starkey, then you have hopefully noticed a page called The Write Block. If you have missed it, I will tell you all about it. The Write Block is is a network group of writers who come together quarterly to discuss frustrations, new work, brainstorm, kick writer’s block out of the door, and most importantly write. The group is available to aspiring and seasoned writers. During the quarterly meeting, we will throw out writing prompt exercises to get our minds going prior to working on our individual projects.

In between the meetings, I have developed The Write Block Wednesdays to share random writing prompts for my fellow writers.

Do you have to share? Not at all. It’s completely optional! This is an exercise for you to say bye writer’s block and hello to free flowing writing!

Here’s The Write Block: Writing Prompt for this week:

If you’ve been following me on Instagram, you know that I’m venturing on my very first overnight summer camp experience for my daytime. Share your favorite childhood camping memory. What did you learn about yourself during the adventure? I will be sharing my experience by Saturday. In the meantime, follow me at Being Starkey on Instagram.

If you are in the Charlotte area, and would like to attend the next The Write Block meeting then send me an e-mail at alwaysphrea@gmail.com.

Happy Writing!
